The 3M Crystalline CR20 film cuts cabin heat by around 64 % TSER, which translates to a 15‑20 °C drop in typical Indian summer conditions, easing AC load and improving comfort. The core technology is a multi‑layer poly‑imide film that reflects 97‑98 % of infrared energy while allowing visible light to pass, thereby preserving visibility and complying with VLT norms. The rear‑surface dispersion layer scatters reflected light to reduce glare, making driving safer. Long‑term, the film’s UV‑resistant coating protects the glass polymer from yellowing, and the low‑profile surface minimizes moisture build‑up, keeping the interior dry and preserving the premium finish of the sunroof glass.

The film is applied to the interior glass; hence, any pending scratches or damage to the glass must be repaired beforehand. While it offers excellent cooling, it does not prevent external rain‑related heat gains on the roof. The installation requires a layer of adhesive that can be removed only by professionals, and the film may show slight haze under extreme humidity if not cleaned properly. Over time, the optical clarity may reduce slightly near the edges if not maintained with appropriate cleaners.
